Sarah and Doug got married on a gloriously sunny day in May, at St. Clements Church in the heart of Cambridge. One of the interesting things about St. Clements is that this was their first wedding ceremony in over 30 years. They have recently had a refurbishment, and the place looked fantastic, aided by the beautiful decorations and flowers. We would happily recommend the place to prospective wedding couples!
The presiding themes were tea and umbrellas, two quintessentially British items. The backstory is that Sarah and Doug met while working on a production of Singing In The Rain. They got to know each other at the after show party, drinking tea into the small hours. Sarah and Doug both work in theatre, and they had some great ideas about decorations and props, including a tea cannon that exploded confetti!
The reception was held at Childerley Hall, in their aircraft-hanger-sized barn. This was ideal as the reception was an intimate affair with around 50 guests, whereas there were three times as many guests for the evening event. After the dinner, the barn opened up for an energetic and extremely photogenic ceilidh.
The evening was capped off with a hog roast while the sun set over the immaculate gardens, with lilac paper lanterns glowing and lining the pathway. Sarah and Doug, thank you for kicking off the summer wedding season in such style, and for asking us to shoot your wedding!
