Make a Face Book Launch Caravansérail London

My talented friend Anya Kuvarzina held a very exciting event the other day – she launched her first illustrated children’s book at Caravansérail bookshop near Brick Lane in London. Anyone could pop in and bring their kids to the bookshop and see a live reading of the book, alongside live drawing by Anya herself. The challenge for her was to try and keep up with the reading!

Fortunately, a lot of the pages ask the reader to make a face (hence the name!), or in this case, the groups of parents and children watching intently. This gave her a couple of moments to get ready for the next illustration.

In addition to this, the kids were invited to colour in and draw on print-outs of her illustrations. To be honest, I think the parents derived just as much enjoyment out of colouring as the kids! The owners of Caravansérail were very accommodating, and the bookshop looks amazing. It is the perfect place for this kind of event, and they do a good line in fancy teas and coffee if you fancy a cuppa.

If you would like to to buy the book, you can visit the Caravansérail website for further information, or better yet, why not visit in person? You can also check out much more of Anya’s work on her website.

Anya kindly asked me to take photos at the event. They say you should never work with animals and children, but when they’re so cute, surely this does not apply to photography! See for yourself below…
