It’s been a few weeks since Cambridge Theatre Company performed Les Misérables: School Edition, but it left a very strong impression in the mind. Because it was the school edition of this show, they could showcase the local young talent, as well as perform a classic musical that everyone knows and loves. The leads were fantastic, and the singing was top-notch throughout the whole cast.
The staging was very impressive as well. They brought in a revolving stage, which they used to great effect multiple times, but the best time was probably towards the end with the barricade. It was used in combination with theatrical smoke and dazzling lighting with amazing results.
I was asked to photograph the show during the dress rehearsal. It’s nice to get a front row view of the show, but while taking photos you don’t really take the story or the emotion in. I made sure I bought a ticket so I could enjoy it from the circle. For those of you that didn’t get to see it, you can appreciate the spectacle in all its glory through photos below.
If you are interested in CTC’s next show, you can book your tickets to see James and the Giant Peach this Christmas. I will be taking the rehearsal and show photos for this show as well, so watch this space!
