Another Christmas rolls by, and so does another exciting production by Cambridge Theatre Company. James and the Giant Peach was on at the Leys, and obviously draws on Roald Dahl’s great source material. This was a much smaller production than previous shows Les Mis and Priscilla, with a cast of under 20. There were two James’, and both played the role very well. The set was really imaginative and colourful, and the costumes were good fun, and utilised well by the talented supporting cast. The ensemble team were creatively deployed as prop holders, dancers and narrators throughout the show.
Unfortunately the show finished last week, but you can see the photos from the rehearsal and dress below. As always, check out CTC’s upcoming shows on their website. They’re hitting for six next year so that should keep people entertained for 2018! The next show is Sweet Charity, and auditions are being held early next year if you are interested in taking part.
I am looking to expand my Theatre photography next year, so if you are a member of any production, or know a theatre group that may be interested, please get in touch. Alternatively, you could pass on my portfolio link on pixieset.

‘Tis the season to be silly, and when Happy Kinder Parties asked me to photograph a gaggle of giggling elves for their website, I wasn’t about to be all Bah Hambug about it!
It certainly wasn’t your usual Sunday morning activity. As soon as the elf models/party entertainers arrived, the music was cranked up and we had a lot of fun trying out a few poses. The idea was to portray the elves as mischievous but loveable little scamps, and I think we hit the nail on the head.
To get the right shot, we decided to stitch photos together in post production to create the perfect tableaux of naughtiness and festive fun. This meant we got them to jump around and improvise elfish behaviour on their own and in pairs. They were then edited and lined up in Photoshop. The photos were helped a lot by very well made outfits that were perfectly colour coordinated. The elves were particularly taken with the bright green and red converses!
The results were great – you can see the photos on the Happy Kinder Parties website. I’ve also put a small selection of my favourite photos below. If you ever need children’s party entertainers you should give them a call. I was thoroughly entertained and I’m not exactly their target audience! If you don’t believe me, take a look at their ridiculously high trust pilot rating. Five hundred happy customers can’t be wrong.
And if you need any commercial work shot next year, please get in touch. I’m happy to shoot any promotional work – be it hotels, pubs, theatre productions or elfin caricatures! I’ll provide you with friendly, good value service that freshens up your website.
Giving an elfing hand this Christmas
Now that winter is in full swing, and the snow comes down around us, who wouldn’t want to snuggle up with a nice glass of wine next to a smouldering fire in a cosy village pub? Well, if you ever find yourself in Oxfordshire, you could do a hell of a lot worse than The White Horse in Kings Sutton.
Hendrik and Julie have been running the White Horse since 2013, and a year ago we were lucky enough to get a taste of what it’s like when we photographed their beautiful winter wedding. Fast forward 12 months, and Hendrik and Julie asked us if we could do some promotional work for the pub. We gladly said yes as we knew what a fantastic venue and business they run.
We arrived on a Saturday morning and got to work photographing the different spaces before they opened for lunch. As you might imagine, they’ve decorated the place with lots of horse related paraphernalia, but you really couldn’t have named it anything else. We saw at least five horses trot by as we took photos!
I’d heard from a our local Airbnb host that the pub had numerous owners before Hendrik and Julie took over, but none had managed to make it work. Judging by the amount of customers that came in for lunch, it looks like they’re onto something great here. What really sets this place apart is the food. We knew we were taking photos of the food, but we didn’t expect a slap up three course meal on the house as part of the job! The food was beautiful to eat and look at as well. I won’t go into too much detail, because you can see the quality for yourself in the photos below.
Anyway, if you’re planning a visit to the area, you can pre-book here. And if anyone else out there is looking for promotional work for their business, please email me on firstname.lastname@example.org.
